The owners of this early 1900's lake home wanted to update their home and enhance their views of the lake, while preserving the original style of the home. They wanted to create a "sunny, comfortable, casual home, yet one that is open and has lots of storage."

They were looking to update the kitchen and relocate it to provide a view of the lake. We removed the first floor interior walls, opening up the floor plan to see the lake from three sides of their home. The kitchen and dining areas were relocated to the lakeside and the kitchen counter-space and cabinet storage were tripled. The homeowner wanted to be able to entertain and enjoy views of the lake, while preparing meals for family and friends. By adding tall double-hung and picture windows, and an over-sized patio door, we accomplished their goal of obtaining additional lake views.

The next challenge was to gain living space, yet still maintain adequate storage. To do this, we opened up the basement, removed an old bar and partitions, leaving the entire basement available for storage.

Having the kitchen relocated opened up space for a new laundry room and family planning center. This doubled the homeowners laundry space and added room for a workstation for computers, mail and message center.

For the second floor, the homeowners longed for a master suite with a walk-in shower, additional closet space and more lake views. They also wanted a guest room, second main bathroom, two larger bedrooms for their children and a playroom. To accomplish this, we added a two-car attached garage which allowed us to gain two additional rooms to the second floor (playroom/guest room and daughter's bedroom). We redesigned the son's bedroom into the master bathroom with a two-person walk-in shower, double bowl vanity and a view of the lake.
